Bibbulmun track day 9: Chadoora to Dwellingup

June 18 2021

Days km: 20.7km
Total km: 211.1km

Town day!! Only 20 to Dwelly!

Keen to get to town I planned to get going as early as possible, but it’s very hard to drag yourself from a warm sleeping bag in a cold morning. Eventually I got on my way. The walk was fairly flat and boring for the most part, though I added some excitement by missing a turn requiring me to Bush bash for around 50 metres to get back on track.

There is a rail siding at the halfway mark, with seats and a toilet (which was much appreciated). After that the trail runs parallel to the train tracks all the way into town. The trail was undulating, with many, many pointless little ups and downs. After about 5 minutes of this I said “f*@$ this!” and moved over to the tracks. Much easier. Plenty dull though.

My feet were absolutely aching in the last few kilometres but I was consoled by the the increasing signs of civilization with each painful step.

I stumbled into the caravan park just after midday and booked a “Walkers room”. I also sculled a can of the red ambulance(coke) which did me a power of good. The walkers rooms are pretty basic, a bed, a seat, a desk and a heater. It was perfect. The showers are not that great if you are over 5 foot though. Still, it was utterly delightful.

I had plans to check out what Dwelly had to offer but I decided it would be better for all involved if I washed my clothes first. I lay down fully intending to catch up on social media etc. but promptly fell asleep for a good couple of hours.

That evening I smashed a Chicken Parmi and chips along with a pint of cider. Honestly the food was so good I actually moaned in the first few bites. I toned it down a little after I got a few odd looks from the other patrons.
