“It’s only 10ks. It’s only 10ks”
Knights of Columbus, my feet hurt! I didn’t really notice until I endured the exquisite torture of putting my cold, wet shoes on over my battered feet this morning. I mean, its never an enjoyable experience, but this hurt something fierce. Like, an “uh-oh” type of hurt. I don’t recall how my feet got so messed up, yesterday was just the standard low grade discomfort that comes with walking long distances on shoes well past their use by date. But the small holes in my shoes had become giant holes at some point, and as a result I did some damage. My right foot is particularly bad, with my little toe bruised and blistered, and cuts and blisters on the other side as well.
Needless to say, it was a slow and sore start to the morning, and it took a good solid hour of walking for the pain to ease somewhat. Thank Thor it was a short walk into town, and the walk would have been pleasant if not for the strange weather. It would absolutley hammer down for a spell, then the sun would be out long enough for me to take my raincoat off, then it would hammer down rain again. I learned my lesson after the first time though, so the rain jacket stayed on, which meant I was soaked, inside and out by the the time I made it to town.
I booked into the Tingle All Over hostel for two nights. I originally had only planned on staying the one night, but my feet need some rest. Actually, I’m more than a little worried about my right foot as it feels an absolute mess. Alas, my shoes have not arrived at the Visitors Centre and I can only hope they will arrive in tomorrows mail.
