Bibbulmun track day 38: Giants to Peaceful Bay

Total km: 856.0

I didn’t take any notes for this section and don’t remember a whole lot of it to be honest. A couple more examples of amazing Tingle trees as the trail descended back down to the highway, once across the road the Tingle forest was replaced by sand, shrubs and bushes with the occasional open paddock here and there. It was a long, sandy walk to reach the beach, which was a highlight, but then there was lots of dune walking, which was not. Be warned, there is a lot of climbing up and down dunes in this section.

After a stop for lunch at Rame Head shelter I bumped into a northbound hiker chilling on the track. We shared some notes on the trail ahead. She loved the canoe crossing but had a terrifying experience in the long beach walk on Parrys beach. She got hit by a wave on the incoming tide which came up to her neck! Something to look forward to I guess…

I arrived at Peaceful Bay just before 5. With the caravan park currently closed, and there being nowhere to camp, I’d splurged and booked a chalet. I actually got a really good price for it as well. Unfortunately the shop at the Caravan park is also closed, so no amazing amazing fish and chips for me. Ah well, maybe next time. The chalet was basic, but nice enough, it was warm, dry, I had phone service and access to showers, what’s not to like?
